The hype surrounding “This Barbie is…” memes, Barbiecore, and the overwhelming presence of all things pink may have settled a bit since the release of Barbie in late July. However, I still can’t seem to escape the sight of dolls wherever I look. Perhaps that’s why when I caught a glimpse of Dylan Mulvaney at Variety’s Power of Young Hollywood event on August 10, her wavy blonde ponytail and monochromatic blue makeup instantly screamed “Ice Queen Barbie” to me. Officially, pink may be Barbie’s color, but Mulvaney confidently sported a head-to-toe blue ensemble that turned heads. Her vibrant blonde hair was elegantly curled, most likely with a curling wand, and fashioned into a sleek high ponytail. From the ponytail’s crown, luscious waves cascaded down towards her mid-back, while a section of her blonde locks wrapped around the base of the ponytail, concealing the hair tie beneath. However, what truly elevated this ponytail into something extraordinary, in my personal opinion, was the playful spiral of hair that gracefully fell over the side of her face, gently grazing her shoulders. Without a doubt, this ponytail was a sight to behold. Yet, Mulvaney’s eye-catching monochromatic blue eye makeup took the overall look to a whole new level. Her baby blue-rimmed eyes, accentuated by a vibrant blue winged eyeliner, instantly reminded me of my nostalgic moments watching Blue from Blue’s Clues. Additionally, her fluttering lashes seemed to possess a subtle blue hue, particularly noticeable on the lower lashes. Unquestionably, this Barbie certainly knows how to stand out in terms of flawless makeup and stunning hair. I eagerly await the next captivating look that Dylan Mulvaney will grace us with.
