If you weren’t alive in 1992, it’s hard to fully capture the impact that Cindy Crawford had on the world of fashion, beauty, and popular culture. She was everywhere, gracing countless magazine covers, starring in Revlon ads, and even appearing in a music video for George Michael. However, it was her iconic Pepsi commercial from that year that truly solidified her status as a cultural icon.
Now, over 30 years later, Crawford is proving that she still has that star quality by recreating that famous ad for a surprising reason. She recently posted a video on her Instagram in which she reenacts the commercial, stepping out of a sports car wearing a white tank top, jean shorts, hoop earrings, and of course, the voluminous hairstyle that made the original ad so memorable. In the Pepsi commercial, she sips on a cola, but in this new video, she’s seen enjoying a margarita. In a unexpected twist, she’s abruptly pushed out of frame by Angel Laketa Moore, also known as That Chick Angel, because it turns out this video is actually for the Saucy remix of the hit song “One Margarita.” (If you’re not familiar with that song, I can’t really explain it to you accurately.)
This isn’t the first time Crawford has recreated her iconic ad. In 2002, she did a remake for Diet Pepsi, in 2016, she spoofed it with James Corden, and just last year, she posed for another version to raise money for the American Family Children’s Hospital. It’s truly incredible how much Crawford still resembles her early-’90s self. I mean, I want whatever she’s having, don’t you? Turns out, it’s Pepsi and margaritas.
